The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for Senior Radome Design & Analysis Engineer (Level 5) for a Proprietary program in St Louis, MO.

The individual will be responsible for the electromagnetic design of advanced airborne radome and integrated fore body systems and will work closely with the airframe and sensor teams to bring the radome design from concept to production. Individual should be a high energy and detailed individual, capable of working independently and with a small team in the antenna and radome design/development field.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the hands-on design and realization of individual advanced radome systems.
  • Use computational electromagnetic analysis software (e.g., Ansys HFSS, Dassault Systems CST Studio Suite, MATLAB, CARLOS-3D, and CADDRAD) to design and predict performance on various types of radome systems.
  • Design and test of advanced structures using materials such as loaded honeycomb core and/or similar core geometries, loaded foams and elastomers, MAGRAM, R-Cards, Circuit Analog sheets / absorbers, and Frequency Selective Surfaces
  • Specify design and materials for radomes to be produced to meet RF performance specifications.
  • Design new radome products and test new materials to meet anticipated customer requirements or to add new products and technologies.
  • Creation of test plans and procedures to test radomes and verify RF performance specifications.
  • Able to analyze outputs from the anechoic chamber measurements, prepare summary reports comparing to RF performance specifications.
  • Participate and guide the testing of development radomes for required performance metrics: VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, radar cross section (RCS), etc.
  • Radome requirement evaluation, initial concept trade-off and development, in-house and customer presentations, travel, and technical proposal writing and cost/schedule estimating.
  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Export Control:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience in RF (Radio Frequency) theory and application
  • Experience in technical leadership
  • Experience working with Radar Cross Section, antenna, and/or radome measurement techniques

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in radome design and performance modeling and simulation
  • Demonstrated leadership for driving issue resolution and mitigating technical risk
  • Experience working with product/component developers and vendors who provide critical functionality to the overall system

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, or physics (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
