Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to lead out in supporting the production of one of the industry's premier aircraft, the Boeing 787. This is an opportunity to solve complex problems and produce outstanding results that will make travel more efficient and safer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive APQP/PPAP and provide assistance to Collins’s manufacturing and technical focals to implement and maintain the elements including PFD’s, Control plans, & PFMEA’s.
  • Manage external and internal quality issues in a timely professional manner.
  • Resolve critical issues/situations ensuring they are handled correctly and within current policy/procedure guidelines.
  • Support/Participate in internal & external Program Reviews, including PDPR’s.
  • Review & approve engineering drawings & changes as a backup to other Quality Engineers.
  • Lead, participate, and follow-up in 8D’s, DIVE’s, RCCA, RTPR and other preventative and corrective action tools.
  • Provide support relative to the collection and analysis of Program quality data.
  • Develop/implement and audit inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures / work instructions.
  • Lead team to collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities for targeted areas of the organization.
  • Support the completion of First Article Reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and approval of specific quality documents such as Quality Plans, Component Inspection Plans, Quality Test Procedures, and Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Participation and preparation for customer, third party regulatory and internal audits.
  • Coordinate, preparation, and management of Notification of Escapes with suppliers, internal manufacturing and the customer.
  • Perform as an integrated team leader with engineering, customer service support and operations to investigate and correct various quality issues related to internal non-conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests with clear and concise reports to customers.
  • Provide support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions, and process audits with the objective of improving the process performance and capability.
  • Participate and lead Manufacturing Process Reviews (MPR’s) & Controlled Builds.
  • Writing / evaluating QMS procedures.
  • Execute the initiatives of the organization such as Zero Defect Plan (ZDP).
  • Perform data entry, extraction and other transactions in Customer’s systems (PLM, MRB, etc.…).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • This role typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a central quality or manufacturing organization
  • Project Engineering background
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • APQP experience (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
