Under minimal supervision, Applies advanced skills adapts new procedure, techniques, tools, etc and relies on moderate experience and judgement to plan and accomplish varied assigned tasks and goals related to maintaining facilities structure, facilities, grounds and equipment. Hosts and oversees work of third party contractors engaged in Facilities maintenance and repair.

The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.
  • Maintain equipment inventory.
  • Coordinate calibration of equipment.

Skills:

  • Read and interpret equipment schematics and blueprints.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems, such as in machinery and facility repair.
  • Repair, rebuild, install electrical systems for machinery or facilities.
  • Repair, rebuild, install, and/or troubleshoot process machinery and assemblies.
  • Repair, rebuild, install, and/or troubleshoot facilities related equipment.
  • Repair, renovate, and/or rebuild pumps, motors, gear systems, drive trains, controllers, etc., including full machine assemblies.
  • Minor carpentry repair and refurbishment, including walls, window installations, dry wall, framing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • OR In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • OR a Bachelors Degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance, electrical, mechanical or plumbing installation and repair. 5+ years of experience as maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
  • Operates power and manual tools, maintenance equipment and machinery in the performance of the assigned duties.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level; Strong computer skills with a proficiency in data entry.
  • Knowledge of typical business correspondence (grammar, structure, punctuation, spelling, at a proficient level).
  • Professional communication skills (phone, interpersonal, written, verbal, etc.).
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and a team player.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Deadline oriented.
  • Ability to stay organized.
