This position is located in our Miramar, FL MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) plant. Selected candidates are expected to operate a variety of complex production machines to make or repair parts for the production line, provide training to other machinist within their cell, utilize blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished products, and may also serve as a back up to the lead machinist.

Position Responsibilities (Some but not limited to other duties may be assigned to meet business needs):

  • Performing a full range of machine shop work at the skilled trade level, including making new or replacement of various component parts
  • Operating all common machine tools, such as lathe, boring mill, drill press, grinders, etc.
  • Setting up, adjusting, and operating all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
  • Understanding the working properties of common metals, can read a variety of semi-complex blueprints, sketches, damaged pars or description of parts
  • Maintaining a clean machine shop area free of debris
  • Actively participate in ACE continuous improvement and environmental, health and safety activities
  • Demonstrating safe work habits and maintaining neat and orderly work area, machine equipment and safety guards
  • Interfacing with internal and/or external customers (visitors/auditors) as required
  • Working closely with machine shop supervisor / lead machinist, engineering technicians, etc. To resolve problems within the production / manufacturing line
  • Maintaining accurate and legible records as required by the department, quality and safety according to the company and FAA regulations
  • Providing excellent support to help meet cell and company’s goals
  • Operating computer console/ computer-controlled machine
  • Calculating dimensions and tolerance using micrometers, vernier calipers, and general mathematical knowledge
  • Aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Machining experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years machining experience
  • Ability to read and interpret data for instrumentation
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics & metal properties
  • Ability to read and understand semi-complex blueprints
  • Ability to make parts to close tolerances
  • Ability to operate minimum of 2-3 machines such as: Lathe, milling machine, Jig Bore & Jig grinder
  • Military technical training
  • Journeyman’s apprenticeship
  • Aviation industry experience 
  • Vocational training

Physical Requirements: Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning. Bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching forward, lifting (refer to EH&S Safety Rules), carrying, pushing/ pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing.
