Job Summary:

An exciting opportunity exists for an Assembly Lab Technician to join our Advanced Microelectronics Solutions Department (AMSD) at Raytheon Missiles & Defense in Andover, MA. AMSD develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices,
microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications.



This role is for a technician that can collaborate with the engineering team to execute assembly jobs for GaN and GaAs devices for periodic reliability assessments, as well as fixturing for developmental designs. The role requires an experienced individual that is able to work independently as well as train others in assembly processes when needed.

Many nascent projects require decisions to be made with respect to the materials to be used as well as general feasibility assessments. The technician in this role needs to be confident in asserting their opinions and use their assembly knowledge to guide assembly projects to successful completion. In addition, the candidate in this role will manage the daily priority of assembly jobs in the work area to support on-time work-order completion for multiple internal customers. Finally, the successful candidate will ensure that the work area remains in an audit-ready state by ensuring compliance to established internal procedures.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Execution of assembly jobs including soldering, fixturing, die-attach, etc.
  • Collaboration with world-class engineers to support various design objectives
  • Daily management of assembly lab work priorities
  • Frequent use of chemical solvents, epoxies, and solders
  • Act independently to uncover and resolve issues
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in assembly
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot process equipment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Ability to perform work requiring dexterity and fine motor skills while remaining seated for extended periods
  • Experience in wire/ribbon bonding, including both usage and maintenance
  • Proficient in best practices for ESD mitigation
  • Lean manufacturing and workflow optimization skills
  • Ability to provide training and conduct certification evaluation process
  • Ability to create, document, and maintain work instructions
