Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) South is a world class fabricator of both military and commercial turbine airfoils. HSMC South is looking for a high energy, self-starter to assume the lead role as the quality engineer supporting the production and development of turbine airfoils.

This a on-site 2nd shift Quality Engineering position (3:30 pm - 12pm). There will be significant and comprehensive training on 1st shift before 2nd assignment.

Key Responsibilities:

•Provide technical support to the inspection and manufacturing communities

•Identify and develop inspection techniques for new product

•Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance to applicable requirements

•Utilize continuous improvement and lean tools to support process enhancements

•Investigate quality escapes and non-compliances to determine root cause, identifying robust corrective actions and tracking effectiveness

•Perform and follow-up on internal and external quality audits

•Support day to day manufacturing activities such as review and approval of work instructions, process authorization requests (PAR), and first article inspections (FAI).

•Work with supplier quality engineering to resolve supplier issues that impact in-house hardware

•Construct and perform quality presentations to a technical community.

Basic Qualifications:

•BS in related field, preferably engineering

•1+ years of experience in quality role performing quality engineering functions.  Examples include but are not limited to; quality process reviews, problem investigations including performance of comprehensive root cause analysis, mistake proof solution development, part drawing and specification/ procedure reviews.

•US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

•General familiarity with inspection tooling and techniques,

•Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a group setting and interface directly with shop floor operators and inspection personnel

•Knowledge / experience with quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001.

•Ability to prioritize workload in a high-pressure environment and multitask as required

•High proficiency in the use of continuous improvement tools, such as robust root cause analysis (RRCA) and principles of lean manufacturing.

•Knowledge / experience with quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001

•ASQ - CQE certification a plus
