The senior classifier will be responsible for determining the export and/or import classifications of items (i.e., commodities, software, and technology/technical data) on behalf of Goodrich Aerospace Services Pvt. Ltd. (GASPL).   She / he will be responsible for (i) classifying items under India’s export control regulations (i.e., the SCOMET), (ii) where required, classifying items under applicable overseas export control jurisdictions, and (iii) the determination of import Harmonized System classifications in accordance with applicable jurisdiction regulations.

The person selected for this role will also be required to assist the Global Trade site lead with obtaining required import and export licenses/permits from the concerned Indian government authorities (e.g., Customs, DGFT, etc.), as well as navigating the regulatory requirements governing the movement of items into and out of bonded zones within India.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide JC and HS classifications as directed by the Onsite Supervisor
• Participate in team meetings as directed by the Operations and/or Central Manager
• Participate in training as directed by the Central Manager
• Work with the Onsite Supervisor on complex classifications and/or support needed as part of the normal classification verification / escalation process
• Supports lower-level classifiers on complex classifications and/or support needed as part of the normal classification verification / escalation process
• Track time spent on all activities and report as directed by the Onsite Supervisor
• Support onboarding activities of new classifiers as directed by the Onsite Supervisor
• Assist with obtaining product-specific import and export permits from the relevant Indian government authorities
• Assist with Customs formalities relating to the movement of items between bonded and unbonded areas that GASPL operates out of within India

Job requirements:

• Have an engineering or other advanced technical degree.
• Technical background - ability to understand technical drawings.
• Must have 3-4 years of classification experience.
• Ideal candidate will also have 2-3 years of experience working in Logistics and Customs Operations.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
• Have adequate computer skills to use systems required to determine classifications.
• Experience working with items imported into / exported from duty-free zones is desired.
• Able to work with minimum supervision due to hybrid status
