Box 611, Middletown, CT, 06457 USAFlight Test Instrumentation Technician Pratt and Whitney Aircraft is a worldwide leader in the development and production of gas turbine engines. Systems Engineering and Validation is responsible for the validation and development of commercial and military engines at multiple test facilities. These engines are produced for use in a variety of government and commercial aircraft including the F-135 Joint Strike fighter, Mitsubishi Regional Jets, Airbus A320 New Engine Offering, Embraer KC-390 and the Embraer E175 and E190 regional aircraft. Join our organization in the Measurement Systems Engineering Flight Test Instrumentation group, performing a wide variety of technical tasks in support of Flight Test Activities in Connecticut and customer locations all over the world. This position will report to a Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) Manager and will have the following responsibilities: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist engineers with tasks related to flight test instrumentation in a lab environment and at customer locations
- Configure and operate portable data systems
- Electronics wiring and troubleshooting
- Understand AUTOCAD wiring and pneumatic diagrams and execute them
- Fabricate with small hand tools (such as crimping tools, wrenches, small screw drivers and wire cutters)
- Ability to support offsite work with domestic and international travel up to 50%
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - An AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience. In the absence of a AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant industry experience is required
- US Citizenship required due to US Government contracts, and the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in instrumentation used in the aerospace industry
- Strong background with accelerometers, strain gages, pressure and temperature measurements and harness fabrication
- Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
- Experience and working skills in harness fabrication techniques
- Microsoft Office applications
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS - Good Mechanical Aptitude – Ability to assemble complex items.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints of components and assemblies
- Must have mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Collaborative attitude
- This role is expected to be on-site in Middletown, CT.
