The Warehouse Lead works directly for the Materials Manager and has oversight of warehouse operations, materials handling, shipping functions, inventory accuracy and general safety for the logistics team. The Warehouse Lead coordinates with Production, Quality, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, Maintenance, Planning, Purchasing and Business Development groups as well as external customers in delivering quality products in an on-time basis. Warehouse Leads are a critical link in supplying parts to our customers on time and in full. They ensure inventory accuracy and that every department across the facility has what they need to operate effectively. Without Warehouse Leads, supply chain activities would falter, and the organization could suffer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Materials Manager and/or Accounting in completing cycle counts. Coaches and develops warehouse staff to instill the importance of inventory accuracy in all phases of material storage, issue, returns, cycle counts and reconciliations as needed. Support production and planning in prevention of stock out conditions.
  • Assists Materials Manager in controlling customer property for both tooling and materials. Performs tooling audits ensuring items are on site, undamaged, and suitable for ongoing program commitments.
  • Provide excellent customer support interpersonal and written communication
  • Lead daily 7:00 AM meetings with team to discuss safety, work assignments, open tasks, etc.
  • Assign warehouse personnel daily tasks as needed to support daily operations. Shift resources to ensure shipping is a top priority, closely followed by support for production needs.
  • Monitor daily 5S activities, do a daily walk through of warehouse areas to make sure we are performing 5S activities and needed cleaning is being performed.
  • Answer questions, offer support to warehouse personnel, provide input to Materials Manager on any performance or quality of work issues.
  • Ensure all warehouse personnel are current in their hazmat certifications for handling and shipment of products.
  • Ensure all warehouse personnel are up to date on forklift certifications
  • Complete the Environmental Health and Safety audit for the Purchasing and Logistics areas and maintain binder on the dock.
  • Ensure any safety, equipment, or process issues are added to the To Do board and assign countermeasures or request assistance as needed to maintain the warehouse in a safe and proper condition.

Education Requirements:

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
  • OR In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 10 years of relevant experience is required
  • OR A Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of relevant experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience preferred
  • 2 years in a leadership role preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience with export shipments, documentation, Automated Export Systems (AES) preferred.
  • Minimum intermediate computer skills with willingness to attend additional external training in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • APIC Certification preferred
  • Professional Certification preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
