The PW1100G High pressure compressor (HPC) design team is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to provide technical leadership for the PW1100G base and Advantage HPC.  A strong background and expertise in commercial and military Fan-, Low- and High-Pressure Compressors design is desired. If you have relevant design background or experience in these areas and possess the skills and motivation to bring new ideas into practice, we would like to like to hear from you.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute compressor part and module designs or re-designs to achieve required improvements.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to design associates to advance their proficiency

  • Engage the team in the resolution of technical problems within program schedule milestones.

  • Proactively develop mechanical arrangements that result in products and components that are low cost and competitively superior within program schedule milestones.

  • Lead root cause investigations and ensure robust product and process corrective actions are implemented.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends in mechanical design processes and product technologies to steer the team in the execution of a world class design

  • Collaboration with multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams, discipline chiefs and subject matter experts to manage the discipline review process and ensure readiness for product reviews to ensure first time design quality.

  • Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics.

  • Engages significantly with internal and external customers is expected.

  • Support development of Engineering Standard Work, Training and provide expertise to Mechanical Design Engineers via coaching and mentoring.

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience or an M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.

  • US Citizenship required

  • Travel less than  10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have exceptional problem solving, communication skills, and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.

  • Proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics, Ansys, and classical methods of analysis

  • Automated design optimization skills are a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a broad understanding of hardware, blueprints, and manufacturing methods
