This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer that will work in the Data Links IPT in the Cedar Rapids, IA facility. This position is for an engineer seeking an experience in using engineering principles in a manufacturing environment. If selected, the employee will become familiar with Collins Aerospace products, manufacturing objectives, along with state of the art manufacturing techniques. This position is with the Data Links Solutions Integrated Product Team in the Cedar Rapids, IA facility.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment.

  • Provides technical interpretation of drawings and specifications of legacy products.

  • Liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability.

  • Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow, and establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.

  • Provides information to evaluate Customer Returned Good (CRG) activity to identify potential failure trends.

  • Eliminate/reduce test defects and improve test yields for routine issues of various levels of scope. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve test failures.

  • Plan and design facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, taking into account economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.

  • Perform assignments requiring use and application of standard engineering economics and product development principles and techniques.

  • Plan, execute (facilitate) and document moderately difficult engineering economics challenges.

  • Maintain awareness of the technological state-of-the-art and of the Company's competitive position in the assigned area.

  • Solve Manufacturing Engineering problems of low level of complexity.

  • Analyze and interpret systems requirements and definition data to the extent necessary to proactively apply engineering economics principles.

  • Assignments usually consist of providing engineering economics support (cost estimates, facilitating achievement of cost requirements/targets) on stand-alone product development efforts.

  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns.

  • Technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment.

  • Assist with design, develop, and improve station loading/line balancing.

  • Assist with factory staffing plan based on sales demand.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S Citizen
