This position is for an Senior Mechanical Engineer. The role’s primary focus will require significant experience in the design and development of Turbomachinery, High/Low Speed Power Transmission, Pump, and Gearbox Products in the Space and Defense industries. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads development activities or manages moderate project, leveraging re-use and best work practice across orgs while applying cost and schedule management methods to projects

  • Mentors and delegates to junior employees

  • Customer focal in certain elements of development

  • Innovates to improve technical solutions and/or processes while working with limited oversight

  • Able to analyze information and make decisions that improve productivity for large teams

  • Evaluate and analyze mechanical hardware to determine relevancy and cost effectiveness for incorporation into current and future products

  • Coordinate/Collaborate across the Mission System Business Unit to identify opportunities for commonization and optimization of product and process

  • Support the selection and coordination of product vendors throughout the entire product lifecycle to include vendor qualification, issue resolution, and product acceptance

  • Manage, execute, document, and present the results of Relentless Root Cause Corrective Action (RRCCA) investigations crossing functional boundaries

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MCAD Experience (NX)

  • Turbo Machinery Design

  • High/Low Speed Power Transmission Design

  • Gearbox Design

  • CFD / FEA analysis experience
