Collins Aerospace Avionics Concepts, Practices, and Tools (CPT) organization has an opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer with a passion for problem solving and satisfying customer needs in the development of software solutions for internal Engineering customers. This position will be focused on development opportunities in support of our Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps or DSO) strategic initiative. Additional opportunities with advancing our Engineering tool solutions include Auto Software Release (ASR) and Peer Review and Approval (PR&A).

This position may be done remotely from any location in the US. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead small to moderately sized software tool development projects

  • Coordinate meetings designed to solicit input and feedback from engineering communities

  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis, and creation for well-defined software designs

  • Present plans/status updates to leadership for assigned projects

  • Mentor less experienced Engineers in proper software design, code, integration, testing, and documentation

  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test, and document software

  • Perform in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification, and validation for products

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) ) and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Experience developing software with Object Oriented languages such as Java, C#, C++

  • Experience with real time embedded systems programming and practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with DevSecOps processes or with DevOps processes and have a desire to learn how to introduce security aspects associated with DevSecOps

  • Demonstrated experience working with Agile teams

  • A working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
