Mission Systems is a strategic business unit of Collins Aerospace specialising in the supply of mission-critical systems enabling military, government, and civil customers to safely and successfully complete their most complex missions.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, Northern Europe, we
are looking to hire an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team, based in the UK, with the following job scope:


Primary Responsibilities:


The Business Development Manager will interface with external and internal stakeholders and is responsible for understanding and shaping customer needs and requirements, lead the pursuit order capture process, develop price-to-win recommendation, and formulate solutions to grow Mission Systems business (orders) in the UK and within the “Five Eyes” market segment. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Accountability for annual and 5-year orders forecast for the assigned accounts

  • Identification of new business opportunities (prospecting)

  • Execution of the Pursuit Order Capture (POC) process leading to award including development of competitive assessment, Price to Win and Win strategies

  • Build and expand relationships. Customer affinity development with key stakeholders and decision makers with both end-users and potential channel intermediaries such as OEMs, Primes, Integrators

  • Anticipate and provide an analysis of competitors' strategy and propose a counter strategy.

  • Market environment and customer needs assessment

  • Support of the 5-year strategic and financial planning process

  • Management of events (regional tradeshows, industry days, product demonstrations)

  • Must be able to provide customer assessments to a capture team and work collaboratively with key stakeholders in the U.S. and overseas affiliates

  • Create and maintain a network of customer contacts

  • Contribute to marketing analysis and assessments using standard company tools and techniques available

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the military market environment within the “Five Eyes” community, with special emphasis on military ground tactical communications and networks.

  • Must have knowledge of defence procurement, requirements development, acquisition and lifecycle sustainment process, with a demonstrated ability to match customers’ requirements with the best available solutions

  • Engineering, Business or equivalent degree.

  • Operational and technical understanding of military ground tactical communications, networks, and/or datalinks

  • Eligible to work in the UK and obtain Security Clearance

  • Extensive BD experience as demonstrated by tangible results in prior roles (e.g. pipeline growth, program wins, successful marketing campaigns, contract negotiation and closure)

  • Knowledge of and experience in complex sales in the areas of mission equipment and integrated systems

  • Strategic thinking and leadership skills

  • Strong communication skills, global mindset, multi-cultural experience

  • Demonstrated ability to solve customer problems, be the customer advocate

  • Passion for winning new competitive business

  • Ability to regularly travel within the UK as well as internationally

Desirable:

  • Master's degree, MBA or other relevant post-graduate degree

  • Experience in and knowledge of program management, marketing, strategy

  • Military operations or government procurement background/experience
