Who we are
BBN Technologies is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer with experience leading multi-disciplinary research teams developing cutting edge solutions to join their Physical Sciences & Systems business unit. The Newport, Rhode Island location is preferred, due to lab space and workforce synergies, but candidates may seek placement in Cambridge, Massachusetts or Portland, Maine.
What will you do?
The effective candidate will have experience both shaping pursuits and bringing program visions to reality through superior technical leadership and execution. As a senior engineer you’ll be expected to execute research, shape new concepts, and support pursuits to government R&D customers. The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in field robotics (e.g., small air and ground; maritime surface), including both hardware development and platform control, as well as how robots are deployed and tested in support of DoD operations.
What you will need
* At least 10 years of relevant DoD / industry experience in area of expertise.
* History of leading successful research projects, including field testing in realistic conditions
* Experience supporting capture and/or proposal activities.
* Technical leadership on programs from system concept design through first prototype.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Experience with hardware and manufacturing best practices, lab safety, and autonomous vehicle test and evaluation
• Position may require some amount of overnight travel
* Willingness to apply for and be granted a US Government Security clearance
Highly desired
• Active Secret or above clearance
