User Experience Engineer

The Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) Data Science and Technologies (DST) team leads interdisciplinary applied research and development (R&D) for all of RI&S with a focus on the Advanced Concept and Technology Product Line. R&D ranges from concept development and trade studies to rapid prototyping for customized engineering products and services. We develop solutions to solve customer needs, as well as plan future capabilities and technology roadmaps.

Raytheon is looking to fill a Senior User Experience engineering role in Richardson, TX, McKinney, TX, Dulles, VA, El Segundo, CA, or Aurora, CO. The candidate will actively promote our User Experience processes and capabilities to the Raytheon Technologies organization, and must be able to discuss the benefits and advantages of a User Centered Design approach to an audience at any level, from Executive Leadership, to Customers, to internal management and engineering team members.

This role blends user experience, data science, big data analytics, and human factors, among other fields. There is a strong focus on technical and scientific rigor in service to the execution of the Data Science and User Experience Strategy. Additionally, this role is expected to grow the awareness and application of UX across a diverse set of domains. Finally, the role will provide management to a section of the User Experience team. Thus, the candidate must possess a balance of technical, communication, and leadership skills.

Required Skills:
  • 12 years relevant experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of user experience, user interaction, human machine teaming, human computer interaction, data visualization, and data analytics
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to challenging, complex problems
  • Demonstrated experience working as a part of interdisciplinary teams to deliver user experience products as part of program execution or to internal business customers
  • Demonstrated experience working across functions to complete project/program milestones
  • Knowledge of current developments and trends in UI/UX
  • Demonstrates up-to date expertise in relevant toolsets (e.g., MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Axure RP, Microsoft Power BI)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • U.S. Citizen and possess the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of cognitive science and theoretical underpinnings of human machine teaming / human computer interaction
  • Demonstrated experience applying research methods to solve customer problems
  • Technical knowledge of data science topics related to data analytics and algorithms, edge computing, data science/artificial intelligence/machine learning architectures, containerization, cloud deployment environments, and big data management
  • Experience supporting new business initiatives, on-contract programs, and research and development projects
  • Experience working the full solution development cycle including requirements generation, design, development, testing, implementation, support and sunset
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in pressured environments
  • Demonstrated management experience of high-tech and/or interdisciplinary teams
  • Earned value analysis and reporting
  • IRAD management experience
Required Education (including Major):
  • B.S. in Data Science, Engineering, Human Factors, Cognitive Science or similar degree. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $129,000 to $265,000; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
